“A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was…a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly…She and her household were baptized.” Acts 16: 14-15a
The Lydia Circle has transformed Mennonite Women USA’s ministry through the generous and faithful giving of women and men who give $500 or more per year to Mennonite Women USA.
In 2014, MW USA expanded the circle to also include the women’s groups and churches which give at this level. MW USA is also noting those in the circle who have given at the Miriam level of $1,000 or more.
The Lydia Circle has exceeded all expectations with more than 150 persons participating in the Circle since its inception in 2003. Many Lydia Circle donors give year after year. In a 2005 article Lydia Circle of Funding Expands Ministry of Mennonite Women USA, then executive director Rhoda Keener said, “An expanded Lydia Circle will help MW USA to solidify current ministries, balance yearly budgets and develop new ministries.” In the following years the current ministry of International Women’s Fund scholarships was increased, the budget was balanced, and the Sister Care seminar ministry was shared worldwide.
At each MC USA Convention, an appreciation tea is held for Lydia and Miriam Circle donors. We hope to see you there!
Thank you to all who are part of our Lydia Circle. Your gifts have made an incredible difference in ministry for women.
