Mennonite Women USA has a tradition during convention called “The Lydia Tea.” During the 2013 Mennonite Church USA convention in Phoenix The Lydia and Miriam Circles Tea was hosted Friday, July 5.
It is an invitation-only tea that thanks Lydia and Miriam donors. The Lydia Circle includes individuals who have given $500 or more in the last year to MW USA. Miriam Circles are groups who have given $1,000 or more in gifts and Timbrel subscriptions in the past year. It was a lovely morning, albeit hot in the Phoenix heat but there was ice tea available alongside fresh-baked goods.
Rhoda Keener presented to the gathering of nearly 30 women wearing a newly completed prayer shawl given to her the previous night. She shared the work and ministries of MW USA focusing on Sister Care International. The fellowship time was blessed with new MC USA Moderator, Elizabeth Soto-Albrecht. She offered a prayer for the work and ministries of Mennonite Women USA as women circled together to join her.
Later the group blessed both Elizabeth and Carolyn Heggen as they prepare to lead the upcoming Sister Care Colombia seminar in August.
Follow Elizabeth’s journey as Moderator and continue to pray for our ministries.
